OUT OF FRAME
group piece
Let the Choro (cry) echo, allow the hiccup of syncopation to make the body sway. From marching to tap dance; from military parades to hoofers, who, with their metal shoes, reverberate on the asphalt. Inspired by military postures, the Old Way style of Vogue hacks and resignifies what was once fixed, soldered. Dragging oneself along the ground supported by the elbows is military training, but, according to the poet Henri Michaux, it can also be the posture that “makes the soul swim.” On the wall projected onto the screens arranged on stage, one reads the word exército (army), which contains within it the word cito (I cite): a clue revealing that Out of Frame is woven from citations and recitations, from resonances that cross different times and bodies to reveal that there are commons among differences — and that these commons can sway and infiltrate walls.
